Jon Jarvis was with the U.S. National Park Service for 40 years, working as a ranger, biologist and director. Jarvis presents a visual tour of the national parks that exemplify American values such as freedom, democracy, conservation and bravery. He also discusses his new institute for Parks, People and Biodiversity at UC Berkeley. Jarvis is the executive director. He served as the 18th director of the National Park Service from 2009 to 2017. During Jarvis’ tenure, 22 parks were added and over $400 million in philanthropic support was raised. Jarvis retired from the National Park Service in 2017. Jarvis is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions.
