The Zinfandel Stompers founded in 2007 by Jim O’Briant, tuba and leader; is joined by some of the best-known traditional jazz musicians in the greater Bay Area. Don Abel, cornet, is an accomplished traditional jazz player, originally from Sacramento. Erik Siverson, reeds and vocals, is a graduate of San Jose State University and was the university’s piano technician until his recent retirement. Howard Miyata, trombone, baritone, euphonium, vocals, is one of the premier traditional jazz trombonists in the country. Patrick Dutrow, banjo, guitar, vocals is one of the top traditional jazz banjoists in the Bay Area. Rich Owens, piano, vocals, is one of the busiest traditional jazz musicians in the area, working regularly with many bands. He leads his own band.
